KNOW THIS - New Album Out Now
May contain traces of sax, as contributed by the great Rory Conlan - he's playing with Electric Avenue these days for those in Drogheda and environs who crave the live saxophone experience (SEE HERE). Good friend Aidan O'Donovan is on there too, bringing his unique musical style of fractal drumming from West Cork.
Electric guitar on several tracks from Neil McAvinia, another Drogheda man with an amazing ability to electrify any proceedings. Kevin Branigan appears on violin with his usual enchanting effect - both Kevin and Neil McAvinia play with the Boyne Valley's most authentic folk band Reynardine (LISTEN HERE). Seán Conlan's graceful mandolin holds a solid grounding, as it has done in the sessions of Ireland for aeons.
Five members of the Drogheda Brass Band (2008 National Champions, second year running - HEAR THIS) contribute powerhouse sounds on 'Higher Than Me' - Barry Conlan, Seánaí Conlan, Declan Conlan, Barry Maher and Brian Murphy (Declan and Brian may also be seen driving people delirious in droves night after night with the good-time guys at Electric Avenue).
Special thanks to Tinahely's Kevin Nolan for his experimental music video for 'A Perfect Sounding', and also for the use of his luxurious bedroom as a recording space a few months back.
In the timeless 'Teach Uí Cairbre' sessions I'm sure we'll all meet again, between the passing of the days of old and the heralding of the new.
Beannacht libh,
Neil.
